EE2 (2022-)

Proposed Material:

The EE series is a collection of experiences, each exemplifying a single emotion. The series studies how the body processes feelings; bodily versus mental memory; and ways in which you can release emotions from the body.

By examining principles and theories from ergonomics, ideas around chakras, stress positions, color theory, audio therapies, architecture, and beyond, each experience is crafted to sooth the mind and ego so the individual can fully experience the specific emotion, safely being overwhelmed by it.

The second experience explores social anxiety and  context’s role in catalyzing these feelings.

EE2 will be a soft robotic torso wrap that constricts/relaxes depending on its environment. The wrap becomes increasingly tight as one enters more densely populated areas and loosens as one becomes more isolated, based on the frequencies of others’ movements. Putting pressure on the ribs and lungs, it draws awareness to one’s breath, physical relationship to others, and space in place.
